When movement becomes difficult the opportunity to get out of breath and fill our lungs with clear air is limited. Restricted movement makes a person vulnerable to chest infections and makes it difficult to produce an effective cough to rid the lungs of sticky phlegm. A skilled Physiotherapist can teach breathing exercises and techniques to maintain health and assist in keeping the lungs clear.
At SP Therapy Services some of our clients require mechanical support to breathe and clear their airways. Whilst the management of equipment is provided by support workers and specialists, our Physiotherapists will routinely work with a client and their team to advise on positioning and handling to maximize chest clearance.
Stretching and positioning programmes with clients who have spinal cord injuries or other neurological conditions affecting the respiratory muscles can have a positive impact on their quality of life.
We can provide home visits & clinic appointments.
SP Therapy Services take great care in providing an exceptional standard of therapy to all our patients, whatever their individual age, diagnosis or location.
