Today, we were very lucky to be paid a visit by Paralympic Team GB Boccia Bronze medallist Zoe Robinson. Boccia is a bowling game descended from Greek ball tossing games, and Zoe first showed her aptitude for the sport at the Disability Sport Events Nationals in 2005 where she came first in her grouping. Zoe went on to compete in the Beijing Paralympics, where she was part of the first ever Team GB to win gold medal in Boccia, alongside Nigel Murray, Dan Bently and David Smith. Zoe then went on to win Bronze at London 2012 earlier this year.
As a local girl, our clinic showed support for Zoe throughout the paralympic games, and in fact Zoe trains daily opposite our clinic at the Castle Leisure centre in Bury, so we were thrilled when she agreed to come in and meet us all. We enjoyed a lively lunchtime chat, and Zoe very kindly let us all have a look at the precious medal. Zoe hasn’t had chance to stop after the Olympics, and will be fully back on her intensive training schedule from January – and as for Rio in 2016, who knows?!
We wish Zoe all the very best in her future training and competition, and will be following her as she continues her career.
