What is a Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)?
A spinal cord injury is usually a result of trauma to the spine often from a road traffic accident or a fall. This trauma causes a complete or incomplete tear of the spinal cord leading to loss of sensation and muscle power below the level of the injury. Spinal cord damage can also be due to other causes such as tumours and spina bifida.
The aims of Neurological Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy treatment will differ in relation to the level of your spinal cord injury, and whether or not your injury is complete or incomplete.
What can we offer?
The therapy team at SP Therapy Services understand that a spinal cord injury is a life-changing event and affects both you and those around you. Rehabilitation can help you reach and maintain your maximum physical potential. Ongoing therapy input can help to maintain your physical health by assisting in the management of other aspects of your condition
For some people with a spinal cord injury their rehabilitation process runs alongside a compensation claim. At SP Therapy Services our therapy and support teams are experienced in dealing with case managers and solicitors and providing them with the necessary information they need.
We can provide home visits and clinic appointments.
